What To Do In Steamboat

Activities

Things to Do

1. Self Care - There is a scenic mountain hot spring just outside of town with multiple pools of varying temperatures. In our opinion this is a must do while in Steamboat. FYI nude bathers often come out after dark; you've been warned :)

2. Rafting - Feeling adventurous? There are great whitewater rafting options near Steamboat's Yampa Valley. Raft trips range from scenic floats close to town, to class 4 rapids. If you're interested in larger rapids this will likely be a full day trip.

3. Biking - Steamboat is home to some of the best road and mountain biking in Colorado. There is a bit of everything from a paved meandering bike path that follows the Yampa River through town, to lift served downhill biking on the ski mountain. There are multiple outfitters who can get you set up, but here is one located right downtown.

5. Paddle Boarding/Tubing - This is dependent upon the snowpack, but if it is a good winter and a wet spring one of our favorite activities is floating the Yampa River through town. It is a fun river with sections of rapids and calm water. Keep your fingers crossed this is still an option in August.

7. Hiking - There are a ton of hiking options around Steamboat. Two of our favorites are Fish Creek Falls where you can jump into some COLD water at the base of the falls, or Devil's Causeway which is an all day hike that features and exposed ridge line and huge panoramic views. Let us know if you want any additional suggestions!

8. Explore the Ski Mountain - There are multiple trails that let you hike up the mountain to gain amazing views of the Steamboat Valley or you can take a chairlift. Typically you can take the gondola to the top of the mountain however, Steamboat is renovating their gondola this summer. We're not certain yet, but you will likely be able to take the Thunderhead chairlift to the same summit. There is also a mountain coaster/alpine slide at the base of the mountain which kids love. The Outlaw Mountain Coaster is the longest coaster in North America at more than 6,280 linear feet. The track near Christie Peak Express descends more than 400 vertical feet, rises up to 40 feet above the ground, and features dips, waves, turns and 360-degree circles.

9. Saturday Morning Farmer's Market - Downtown Steamboat has a fun market to peruse with over 100 vendors beginning at 9am on Saturdays. Navigate to 7th and Yampa St to get to the market.
